“I'm so sorry. Your son Harvey has Severe ADHD.”
A few simple words were enough for Cindy's world to come crashing down. Worse still, there was nothing more the doctor can do about it. So, what is ADHD and why it is Cindy’s greatest fear?
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, or simply ADHD, is the most common mental disorder affecting children in the US with an estimated 6.4 million diagnosed in as recent as 2019.
In Harvey’s case, Cindy had long suspected something to be severely wrong. His chaotic behaviors first became apparent around the age of 4. He started acting aggressively, was hyperactive and had trouble focusing.
“I didn’t notice anything amiss, not until Harvey’s gone missing from the house one day.”
“I looked all over for a good 15 minutes, before spotted him tearing around the porch and bruising himself up.”
“There was also another time where he was physically aggressive towards some kids in the neighborhood and the cops were called.”
“So, I have no choice but to confine him to the house and kept a close watch on him ever since.” – Cindy
Back then, Cindy was convinced that he would grow out of it. But instead, his condition continued to worsen. Harvey just refused to sit still like his other siblings and it finally prompted Cindy to consult their family doctor.
Following a thorough evaluation at the doctor’s office, Harvey was diagnosed with severe ADHD.
And to Cindy’s dismay, there was little the doctor could do to help him get better, other than to dampen his extra energy by constantly running him tired or treatment involving the use of stimulant medication.
Both solutions were not feasible in the long run and Cindy didn’t want any of that!
Shortly after, the same problem began bubbling through in school. Harvey got into a lot of trouble with his classmates to the point where other parents demanded to have him expelled.
His teacher Mrs. Miller can clearly see that he was wired differently and notified Cindy how her son fared.
For Mrs. Miller, it was all rather familiar. She had faced many students like Harvey over the years including a restless daughter with mild ADHD at home too.
So, she shared Cindy’s sentiment and offered some insights.
“ADHD is the result of an imbalance to the vestibular system which is a sensory system that is responsible for processing information and influences the ability to maintain attention.”
“A child with vestibular problems like Harvey tends to be fidgety and loves to climb and jump off high objects or runs fast.”
“Now, this is where the Sensorii™ Swing comes in handy.”
“Many are unaware a swing like this is fantastic for vestibular stimulation. In other words, its swinging motion that mimics a mother’s womb can regulate arousal levels to enable self-calming and focused attention.”
“A child’s vestibular system that’s nurtured with care is crucial to physical, social, emotional and cognitive development.”
“Besides, it’s proven to improve gross motor skills so he or she will feel confident enough to explore comfort zones and ultimately balance work, rest and play.” – Mrs. Miller
Knowing how Sensorii™ might benefit Harvey, Cindy decided to get a couple of them. One for Harvey and one for the siblings to share, with hope that this also fosters shared interests and stronger bond.
To her delight, Harvey was at it from day 1 and quickly made Sensorii™ his very own safe haven.
Every day, Sensorii™ was Harvey’s source of joy. It was a place where he can retreat and be completely at ease while his siblings eagerly took turns on the second swing.
“Harvey is so attached to it. I never expected a swing could become such meaningful object for a child.”
“It has suppressed his temperament considerably and is such a stark contrast to his disruptive behavior in the past.”
“In fact, he now gets along really well with his siblings. All the fun and movements they’re experiencing together on the swings have certainly increased interactions and brought them closer.”
“What’s more, Sensorii™ offers a great deal of relief for me as a parent. I can always count on it to comfort Harvey and stop him from wandering astray due to his ADHD nature.”
“This seems to have a profound effect in school too. According to Mrs. Miller, he is by far a more active learner than before and has managed to keep his focus throughout the lessons.” – Cindy
Today, more and more parents are appreciating the use of Sensorii™ as a parenting lifehack to better understand their ADHD child as well as for children with ADHD to express themselves freely.
Because the last thing a parent wants is to feel overwhelmed by ADHD and risk seeing their children’s potential slip away.
By choosing Sensorii™ Swing, you can make a positive difference to their childhood at every stage of growth. It simply is the greatest gift and the best natural fix for kids with ADHD.
